Snowshoe Trail Maintenance
Tuesday October 24th
8:30 to 3ish

A hearty thanks to Frank Florence, Christie Crowe, and Dennis DeLapp for the final push in getting the new AC-DC Shelter Snowshoe Trail marked, signed, and ready for snow! The work completes the new trail work at Edison.

While we still have one more new trail approved for implementation, the snowshoe trail at Vista Butte, we will switch efforts for the next couple of weeks to regular pre-season trail maintenance. Priority will be to work from highest (Dutchman) to lowest elevation (Edison), but I might make a last-minute change based on weather conditions and scouting reports.

  • Tuesday October 24th
    • The NOAA forecast for Tuesday at Dutchman:  Rain and snow likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43
  • Plan -  Meet at Cascade Lakes Forest Service Welcome Center at 8:30 AM
    • Group up and drive to sno-park
    • Leave one vehicle at Dutchman and take second to Common Corridor
    • Install new junction signs and complete work on the trailhead by the new kiosk
    • Hike the Todd Lake Snowshoe Loop Trail. Time permitting, hike the Dutchman Tie back to the sno-park.
    • Check for missing signs and clearing any blowdown (X-cut - Katana saws)
    • Please bring regular PPE (hardhat, gloves, glasses, long sleeve shirt, etc) Let me know if you me to bring extra.
    • Expect to return to town around 3PM

Please either sign-up here or email me at bobtimmer@yahoo.com to  let me know if you are if you are interested in helping.

Also, it is time to continue scouting the snowshoe trails. If you are interested, please let me know so we don't duplicate efforts. Status of the Snowshoe Trails is updated on this spreadsheet.
