Trailwork Recap

On Tuesday, just a trace of snow on the Short & Long Loop Snowshoe trails at Meissner greeted Christie Crowe, Kurt Keasey, Larry Cohen, David Alward, Chuck Delcamber, David Damici, James Arneson and Gary Evans as we continued pre-season work. Proceeding towards the Meissner Shelter, the group was divided into two 2-person sawyer teams and a group focused on brushing and sign maintenance.  24 blowdown were cut. Numerous sections along the far end of the Long Loop were brushed.  A dozen brackets and 6 individual reassurance markers were added, mainly along the Long Loop.  Two of the older "You Are Here Maps" were replaced. A third YAH map and backing board needs to be replaced with non-wood backing, after becoming too tasty to a local porcupine.  Thanks to David and Christie for driving.

Updated - Upcoming Plans

Gary headed out to Edison last week and cleared 18 logs from the Tesla trail at Edison...Thank you Gary! There remain 3 to cut and a need for brushing, so we will head to Edison on Tuesday to finish clearing, brushing, and installing some markers on  the Tesla Trail. This will be a longer day as Tesla is a 5 mile loop.

Sunday 11/12 Update - Stopped by Edison today and not a trace of snow at the sno-park. Thin, residual snow is in the trees and north-facing slopes at the Sunriver Turnoff, so we might have a little snow at the western portion of Tesla where elevation reaches 5,500'.  The updated forecast (below) remains favorable.

  • Tuesday November 14th
    • The updated NOAA forecast for Tuesday at Edison: A slight chance of rain and snow before 7am, then a chance of rain. Snow level 5500 feet rising to 6500 feet in the afternoon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. Southwest wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
