Snowshoe Seminar Outing

If you attended the January 3rd Seminar, signed-up for a snowshoe trip, but HAVEN'T received an email, please email  masterhiker@gmail.com and mention "Snowshoe Seminar Outing" in the email subject line. Several of the addresses on the sign-up sheet could not be read.

Here is the email that was sent out to those who signed up on the sign up sheet that was passed around during the seminar.

Hi there, you are getting this email because you signed up for a public snowshoe with the Central Oregon Nordic Club (CONC) when you attended Bob Timmer's presentation on Wednesday, January 2nd at the Downtown Library branch.

We finally had a great snowfall, which means that we are able to head out on the snowshoe trails! The public snowshoes we offered at the presentation are now scheduled for Saturday, January 27th. I have two snowshoes scheduled for that day:

  • Snowshoe #1: 1/27/24, 10:00 am -12:30 pm, Swampy Sno Park, approximate distance: 3 1/2 miles
  • Snowshoe #2: 1/27/24 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm, Swampy Sno Park, approximate distance: 3 1/2 miles

If you want to participate in one of the trips, please respond to this email and let me know the following information:

  1. Your name, email address, and mobile phone number
  2. The number of people who will be attending with you, including their names
  3. Your preference on which snowshoe (#1 or #2) you want to attend. If either session works for you, please indicate that instead.
Participants will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis. I will respond to all requests and either confirm your participation or suggest an alternative, if there is one. Several days prior to the trip, I will send out a reminder email with all information needed to participate in the event, including exact meetup time and place. You do not need to be a member of CONC to come along on this trip. You will be required to sign a waiver at the trailhead.

No one on the list indicated that they were bringing children along, however these outings are suitable for participants age 12 and older. If you have children younger than that and are interested in bringing them along on a snowshoe, please let me know and we will try to schedule a special trip for you on a different date.

The snowshoe distance for both scheduled meetups will be approximately 3 1/2 miles, which is considered a moderate distance for a snowshoe. You must provide all of your own clothing and gear, including your own snowshoes and poles. All vehicles must display a valid Sno Park permit. Please check out this link for information on the Winter Ten Essentials to bring along on any outdoor trip.  As a reminder, CONC is also putting on a Winter Ten Essentials seminar on Tuesday, January 16th at 6:00 pm at the Downtown Library branch.

I hope to see you on one of these trips!
