Snowshoe Trail Maintenance
Tuesday January 23rd
8:30 to 3ish

Last week's kick-off of in-season maintenance of the snowshoe trails began at Swampy with Dave Alward, Kurt Keasy, Kelly Eager, Chuck DelCamre, Gary Evans, Bill Silliman, Christie Crowe, Dennis Damici, Kurt Koegler and Bob Timmer. We all headed  counter-clockwise on the Porcupine Snowshoe trail to shoe the new Summit Bypass trail for the first time after its completion last fall. The extra height from the snow let us trim higher for marker visibility. After work on  Summit Bypass, the group divided into two teams so we could check and clear all of the Porcupine Snowshoe Trail segments. Several saplings and a few blowdown were cleared..

This Tuesday, January 23rd, we will head to the Dutchman & Todd Lake Trails. Our goals for the day were to clear any blowdown, replace any missing reassurance markers and trim for marker visibility. We've had a couple of reports of missing markers. No reports of blowdown. We will try to start from Dutchman Sno-Park, but if we are unable to get parking, will have to continue to Mt Bachelor and go through the Common Corridor. The snowshoe will be 5 1/2 miles round-trip from Dutchman.
