Snowshoe Trail Maintenance - Edison Again

In-season maintenance of the snowshoe trails continued last week with a sweep of the new AC/DC Shelter Snowshoe Tie trail. Kurt Keasy, Kelly Eager, Chuck DelCambre, Gary Evans, Bill Lumbert Silliman, Dennis Damici, Dick Kennish and Bob Timmer headed  west on the Tesla trail from the Edison Sno-Park to junction "E". Then the group headed north on the AC/DC Shelter Snowshoe TIe to the AC/DC Shelter. The group trimmed for marker visibility, added a couple of reassurance markers, and cut several saplings that arched across the track. Just one blowdown was encountered; a couple more were evident below snow level. It was a spring-like day at the end of January.

Naming of Edison cave, butte, and thus sno-park

This Tuesday,February 6th, we will return to Edison. Gary identified a couple of "opportunities" for us last week. This week, we will head left at the trailhead and proceed down the short loop and replace the YAH sign boards and maps at junctions "A", "B" and "C". The maps have faded since their installation in 2019 and a porcupine has taken to the plywood sign boards. Then we will continue west towards the old Edison Shelter where Gary has identified a 3' log across the trail. From there, we will continue west on Tesla and take the Tesla Short Tie and return to the Snow-Park. The snowshoe will be a 3 3/4 mile loop.
