Good work by all last week on the Swampy Porcupine snowshoe trails. New YAH map boards and maps were installed at each junction and 20 reassurance  markers were raised and/or infilled. By dividing the group, we were able to cover Telemark Butte, the Summit Bypass, and both of the inner-loop tie trails. Thanks also to Larry for installing a couple of extra diamonds on the new Vista Butte snowshoe trail on Thursday.

Continue to hear "crickets" on blowdown, so we will head out Tuesday to check if it is really true on the Swampy Short and Long  Loops and Nordeen Tie; and if we have enough folks, do it as a 1-way with Meissner as the destination. The snowshoe will be 3 miles if a one-way, otherwise a 4 3/4 mile loop.

 Plans                  

  • Tuesday December 17th
    •  (NOAA Forecast) . A 30 percent chance of snow before 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 35
  • Meet at Bend Parks & Recreation District Office Lot at 799 SW Columbia St (where the kayaks are in the roundabout) at 8:30 AM
  • We will park in the the parking spots closest to the river
  • Group up. If we have enough folks to split the group  between the north and south Long Loop trails, we will drop one car at Meissner and then all proceed to Swampy Sno-Park. If not, we will all drive to Swampy Sno-park
  • SNOWSHOES, Long-sleeve shirts, glasses, gloves and hard hats  I will have a couple of extra hard hats
  • Crosscut and katanaboy if you have one. We will select what we need when we divide up. I will have a pole saw. 
  • Expect to return to town by 3PM
